Painting and Decorating in Hintlesham
Started in the industry 8th September 1986 as an apprentice for Countryside Properties PLC now (UK) Ltd. Completed the apprenticeship on 24th May 1989. Achieved advaned craft in theory and practical. Went into self employment on the old 715 scheme and started sub-contracting 25th May 1989. Four the next 3 years approximately I stayed and developed my skills in new build developments. Having the opportunity to work for one Mr Tinsley the better of my two mentors. Taking great steps and in a team of fifeteen worked for The Lord Chancellors Department in the City of London covering local boroughs. This work lasted for around four years, in that time I started to buy a two bedroom purpose built maisonette. This was the eighties and the thing to do. Hindsight no it wasn't. From The Lord Chancellors I had a difficult spell with work as the recession kicked in and cuts were made probably information not required but this enviroment back in the nineties put me in good stead for the recession of the 2000s.
Domestic painting and decorating became a part of my resume and I started to think for myself trying very hard to grow my skills and my contacts. Still enjoying my twenties and building a social network business not always went to plan. My football days were long over and my gym days were around the corner. Late twenties my venture took me to the other side of Chelmsford, Epsom, Colchester, Newmarket, Kent back towards Surrey, Bishop Storford and up to Watford, sub-contracting for Charles Church, Countryside Properties, Barrats, Mathew Homes and a few more. At thirty I had a break from painting and decorating and travelled and got a PAYE job this lifestyle lasted no time at all and in my middle thirties set up self employed again. Created Homestead Flood Protection another story. Using Homestead then becoming Homestead PDS for legal reasons to finance and run along side the Flood Protection. The set up for painting and decorating was much more professional and more exciting and more promising. What could go wrong. Northing Rock had a land slide and there I was showing the same net profit that I cleared in 1997 as a sub-contractor not forgetting standard of living had increased and general life was more expensive. This pushed me on, A positive view i'd like to add, networking became a part of the business, advertising, social media/marketing came into play. Adapt, improvise and overcome wasn't just a famous film tag. Business situations that had never occured before were fired at me like a bazooka and you have to handle obstacles the best way possible. Today, building and providing a painting and decorating service using the 22 years experience i've achieved. Doing the utmust to generate enough net profit to go Ltd and expand from sole trade1 > 5 to a sole trade 4 > 10 Ltd Business. Much more to tell but the interest must stay readable for you to be a part of the success which beckons.
After some thought it occured to myself I should actually mention the contractors and not just the companies I've the pleasure to worked with. Starting way back to my apprenticeship days it was Murphy followed by Young & Jay then on to Tinsley after Tinsley it was Beckworth after Beckworth it was Ryman between Ryman and Beckworth it was Lawless, Swan and today Millprior not quite the magnificent seven but overall a charming lot.
